These chapters were both very sad and very gruesome. I thought the worst part was when he got to the village wee his parents were and the old man told him his parents were there and then just when they were about to go down and see them the village got attacked. That would make me go completely insane. I just could not handle that and I do not blame him for attacking the old man for making them wait. it scared me at the start of chapter 12 when they said they were put under gunpoint. I thought that they were rebels capturing them. It was very gruesome when they were talking about the different ways they kill people. I could tell he had been completely desensitized at the end when he was talking about laughing at the rebels as he burned them.

If I went to the village where my parents were, and the village as destroyed I too would go insane. I also agree with you that these chapters were gruesome. When I first read chapter 12, I too thought that the rebels had captured them.
i liked how you really put urself into their shoes and thought about what you would do in this situation.
