These chapters were not as graphic as the last ones but the things they talked about were just as bad. Even though they escaped the rebels they still had to walk all the way through the woods starving. And when they got to the village they didn't have any money to buy food so they had to go all the way back and risk getting captured and when they got back no one would sell them food because they wanted to keep it for themselves. I thought that was terrible. Then when they were captured they thought they were all going to be killed. And then they shot that old man in the head with a blank round and made him think he was dying that was nothing but cruelty.

I think that is cruel too but they didn't fire a blank they shot very very close to his head. You also make a good point on how that put their lives at risk just to get money for food, then the people aren't selling it that just stinks.
That was so terrible with what they had to go through. Since they had no food, they had to go back and get some. They ended up stealing corn corn from a little boy. It was so cruel when they fired the blank round to the old man's head. Who could do that?
